Be sure to agree on a clear, written contract that lays out the scope of work, fees and payment schedule. That way there are less likely to be surprises.

Re: Why Hire a Graphic Designer?

I've tried hiring designers, but a lot of them got these "hidden costs" that keep on charging me little by little. In the long run, better hire a known designer with a fixed expensive rate but gets the job done! :D

Re: The “Creative Tips” Newsletters

Thanks, Alan, I've been enjoying your tips and they have helped a lot as I am considering a newsletter.

Re: Microsoft Office 2010 gets a movie trailer

Check out more Office 2010 videos on the Office Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/s.p...

If you have any questions about Office 2010 or current Office applications, feel free to post them on the Wall!

For more details and conversation, become a fan on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@Office).

Cheers,
Kate
MSFT Office Outreach Team

Re: The “Creative Tips” Newsletters

You're extremely welcome, and thank you for the kind words!

Re: The “Creative Tips” Newsletters

You are my hero! This is the best resource I have found and I can not thank you enough. Looking forward to reading more. You have a great style for writing and it is as if I can hear you talking to me. I do not write but I am trying to self-teach how to make my executives publications more appealing. This was so enjoyable!
Smiles!
Aslan

Re: Why We Design

That's sad, but it points up a really important point about these wonderful software tools we all use: knowing design software doesn't mean you know design, any more than knowing how to use a word processor (or an authoring program) means you know how to write, or having a spiffy digital camera means you know how to compose a great image.

Re: Why We Design

Page design is important. Recently saw a book that had had an indesign designer - or so she said... but the pages were jammed to the margins - to save money on the number of pages printed I'm sure. It was a shame and totally unnecessary. My hunch is she will get some poor reviews simply because the design is ugly and no one will really recognize why.

Re: The “Creative Tips” Newsletters

Glad you like it! This is really neat. It is well written, easy to understand, and useful. I am now trying to get over the dreaded 'double space' as I typeset. lol And yes I started with a typewriter.
F
